Citizen's Lecture in Sophia Forest No.1: “Enjoy the Forest of Early Spring”

I participated as a lecturer at the above event (Karuizawa-town, May 8) hosted by the Graduate School of Global Environmental Studies, Sophia University. We took a leisurely stroll through the soft, freshly sprouted forest of early spring just awakened, blessed with fine weather. There were cheers when we found tiny Fudelindo and Maizurso flowers which tended to be overlooked unless carefully explored. In addition, the white flower like the toothbrush of Uwamizusakura were bloomed here and there. Birds of prey danced overhead, and kibitaki could be seen right up close. In addition, with the guidance of a forest instructor, it was a big harvest that all the participants were able to definitely distinguish the dangerous poison ivy of early spring sprouts.
