‘Iwaizumi Matsutake Mushroom Forest Development Cooperation Team’ activity conducted again

This autumn marked the 6th time that the 'Iwaizumi Matsutake Forest Development Cooperation Team' carried out efforts to maintain Matsutake mushroom forests. With support from the local town and Chamber of Commerce, team members from various regions participated in the activities held from October 3 to 5. As a result of the maintenance work, areas that had produced Matsutake mushrooms experienced damage from deer feeding, so inspections were conducted on sections where deer protection fences had been installed in the spring, and successfully, Matsutake growth was observed. On site, under the guidance of Iwadate san, an expert in Matsutake management, shrubs and fallen leaves were also removed. Additionally, after the work was completed, the institute's representative, Shibata, held a seminar titled 'Creating an Era of Coexisting with and Connecting to Forests.' Starting next fiscal year, a new and even more enhanced initiative is scheduled to begin, which is greatly anticipated.
